For our leadership programs, pupils are selected based on having previously shown a supportive and inclusive attitude towards their classmates, thus demonstrating empowering qualities. The reinforcement of self-confidence and a positive self-image from one pupil has the power to diminish the aggressive nature of other children. By identifying “Uplifters” in every classroom and helping them reach their full potential, we turn every classroom into an uplifting place – that means a safe space in which every child is given the opportunity to grow and strive.
The leadership program is an extension from the regular 3-day-workshops in the classrooms. After their election, the chosen pupils have the chance to participate in group meetings. In every meeting, the topics of the workshops are discussed more in-depth and the pupils are encouraged to strengthen the support and encouragement that they bring to their school community. Following these meetings, the children are able to share what they learned with the rest of the class and contribute significantly to creating a more supportive and safer environment.
Matzmichim (Uplifters) has two different leadership programs for the duration of a year:
4th to 6th grade pupils (individual school program)
9th and 10 grade pupils (multisectorial intervention), click here for more information
